I Want!

What if the thing we want most is quietly pulling us away from the One who matters most? The tenth commandment, found in Exodus 20:17, calls us away from coveting, but it goes far deeper than simply telling us not to want what belongs to someone else. At its core, coveting is misdirected worship. When we find ourselves consumed by the pursuit of things, scrolling endlessly, comparing our lives to curated highlight reels, and measuring our worth by what we do not yet have, we are spending spiritual energy on creation rather than the Creator. The remedy is not complicated, but it is challenging: gratitude. Philippians 4:6-9 reminds us that when we bring our needs to God with thanksgiving, we receive something no purchase can deliver, a peace that surpasses understanding. This message invites us to take an honest inventory of where our time, thoughts, and desires are truly directed, and to ask whether we are pursuing God with the same intensity we pursue His gifts.
