The Lord is my Shepherd

Psalm 23 is far more than a comforting passage—it is a picture of Jesus, the Good Shepherd. Before we can enjoy the promises of Psalm 23, we must first look to the sacrifice of Psalm 22, where Christ laid down His life for His sheep. As our Shepherd, Jesus lovingly provides for our physical and spiritual needs, guides us in righteousness, walks with us through life’s darkest valleys, and gives us peace even in the presence of our enemies. Because of His finished work, we can confidently say, “The Lord is my Shepherd,” knowing that in Christ we have everything we truly need and the assurance that we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
